Environmental Science & Technology is an interdisciplinary and broad area and offers the opportunity to bring together researchers from various backgrounds and provide a high-level approach with an international vision, in-depth knowledge and research.The Environmental Science & Technology Group (ESTg) was founded in 2013 as a basis for the development of research, teaching and provision of other services in the area of the Environment.Research projects will lead some cutting-edge interdisciplinary research projects including targeted thematic areas as Soil, Water, Air and Waste in collaboration with prominent foreign Universities.
Porous Materials & Membranes research encompasses a wide range of macro- meso- and nano-porous materials, both natural and synthetic, including membranes. Porous materials are important as adsorbents, catalysts and functional materials in many industrial and technological applications. Our scope is broad covering synthesis & characterization, as well as testing and process design. Our main interest is on interactions at interfaces, diffusion in pores, nanostructured materials, self-assembly phenomena, pore design, carrier systems, and membrane materials. The objective of the group is to apply scientific knowledge to industrial engineering problems and develop processes by use of the studied materials; our scope thus is dual, basic and applied research.
Our labs are equipped with high-end analytical equipment, including XRF, Gas and Mercury Porosimeters, Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analyzer, FTIR, UV-VIS, TG-DTA/DSC, HPLC, AAS, Ion Chromatograph, C/N Mutlianalyzer, Refractometer and other smaller equipment.
